Dr. SK Rajan is an 'AO Spine International' certified Spine Neurosurgeon who is currently the Head of Spine and Associate Director at Artemis Hospital, Institute of Neurosciences in Gurgaon. He brings over 22 years of surgical experience from all over the world and from a wide range of institutions with him.
He completed his surgical training at premier institutions in the country such as PGI Chandigarh and GB Pant Hospital in New Delhi; and realising his passion for treating spinal disorders and the fact that spine work requires expertise of the highest order, Dr. Rajan then moved to the UK and then to the US to work with some of the most prominent International leaders in the field of Spine Surgery (Prof. Edward Benzel at the Cleveland Clinic and Mr. Adrian Casey in London) so as to gain expertise.
Dr. Rajan was one of only a few people from around the world to be chosen for the prestigious International World Federation of Neurosurgeons Fellowship to the United States in 2009. In addition, he was recently honoured with the 'AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN SPINE SURGERY' AT THE Global Healthcare Excellence Awards in New Delhi for his contributions to the field of spine surgery.
He is also known in the National Neurosurgery community for successfully applying and popularising new and unique techniques for the treatment of various complex spinal disorders, particularly those affecting the Craniovertebral Junction (upper neck) and the Lumbosacral Junction (lower back). He has performed over 3000 surgeries, including some of the most complex spine cases and cases complicated by other surgeons.
His expertise includes open and minimally invasive spine surgeries (Fusions and Motion Preservation Surgeries) on a wide range of congenital, degenerative, scoliotic (deformity), traumatic, and infective spine problems.
He is known for using Minimally Invasive Key Hole Spine Surgery Techniques for a variety of spine cases such as slipped discs, Lumbar Canal Stenosis, Spinal Tumours, and so on
Dr. Rajan is frequently invited to give talks at regional and international scientific meetings, as well as to participate in Live Operative Teaching Courses as a National Guest Faculty. He has also written and co-written a number of publications, including articles in national and international journals and book chapters.
