Biography

Dr. Naresh Trehan is one of the most experienced and skilled cardiovascular surgeons and an internationally recognized expert surgeon.

His experience spans over 40 years and he is considered one of the most successful cardiac surgeons in India.

He started his career as a Cardiac Surgeon at New York University Medical Centre where he performed more than 3000 Coronary Artery Surgeries and then returned to India in 1988 and established the Fortis Escort Heart Institute and Research Centre in New Delhi.

He was at Fortis Escort as a Senior Cardiovascular Surgeon for more than two decades, making it one of the best and desired centres for cardiac treatment in the world.

Now Dr. Trehan is Chairman and founder of Medanta- the Medicity in Gurgaon, which is an outstanding multi-specialty hospital with modern infrastructure and equipped with the latest advanced technologies.

He specializes in cardiovascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, heart transplantation, and minimally invasive heart surgery, and he has performed more than 48,000 successful open-heart surgeries so far.

For his contributions to Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery and for outstanding services in the field of medicine, Dr. Trehan has been honoured as Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri by the Government of India.

He has a penchant for research activities and has made numerous contributions to medical journals, papers and newsletters. His work has been published in national and international scientific and cardiology journals.

He is an active member of prestigious medical societies and is regularly invited to seminars and conferences to give lectures and talks. He participated in many cardiac workshops, seminars and meetings as well.
