Position: Executive Director, Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon
One of India's most veteran paediatric cardiac surgeons, Dr. Krishna S. Iyer is the Executive Director of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery and is known for his clinical acumen and engagement in the provision of cardiac treatment for children in India and other developing countries.
He joined the faculty of the heart surgery department at AIIMS, New Delhi, after completing his medical studies. He then completed his paediatric cardiac surgery training in Australia before founding neonatal cardiac surgery at AIIMS.
In 1995, at EHIRC (now FEHI), Dr. Iyer launched the first specialised programme for paediatric cardiac treatment in North India. This paediatric cardiac initiative, which he oversaw, has elevated the standard of paediatric cardiac treatment across India and its South East Asian neighbours. More than 14,000 congenital heart disease patients from all across India and more than 15 other countries have had surgery thanks to Dr. Iyer. He was the first surgeon in India to successfully complete a quick two-stage arterial switch and double-switch procedure.
He frequently travels to places across India and internationally to give talks and has more than a hundred research articles in national and international journals.
He served as the founding president of three organisations: the Society of Paediatric and Congenital Heart Surgeons, the Asia-Pacific Paediatric Cardiac Society, and the Paediatric Cardiac Society of India.

Has been recommended for honours at the M.Ch. Examination in Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery held on Dec. 1984.
Awarded the Doppler award for best paper at the Sixth International Symposium on Echocardiography in Cardiac Surgery, held in Washington D.C. on Nov.1994.
Awarded a Citation and Certificate of Appreciation for notable service and excellent contribution to EHIRC Dr A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Honourable President of India on December 13th, 2002, New Delhi, India.
Invited as a speaker at several International Conferences. Delivered over 200 talks in National and International CME's and meetings.
