Dr. Ashok Raj Gopal, India's greatest orthopaedic surgeon, is now practising at Medanta Hospital.
He has performed over 25,000 complete knee replacement procedures and is a highly informed and experienced surgeon in difficult orthopaedic surgery. He has also performed over 3,200 joint replacements, 9,950 arthroscopic procedures, and 28,000 arthroplasties.
He has achieved several milestones in his career, including conducting 28 complete knee replacement procedures in less than 12 hours.
Dr. Ashok has revolutionised orthopaedic surgery and knee replacement treatments in India with his three decades of experience.
He is passionate about knee replacement and has vast expertise with minimally invasive total knee replacement and trabecular metal implant surgery. In India, he pioneered numerous novel and sophisticated orthopaedic treatments.
He is actively involved in the creation and development of new and improved knee surgery procedures, and in 2013 he presented the Persona Knee System in partnership with the Persona International Team. Because this method provides a tailored knee replacement system for the patient, tremendous advancement in the area of knee replacement surgery has been accomplished.
His scientific contributions are significant, and he has several papers to his name in prestigious national and international orthopaedic journals. He is the editor of the book "Knee Surgery," which was released in 2014 at the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons' annual meeting.
In 2014, the President of India gave him the Padma Shri Award for his selfless commitment to Orthopaedics in India.
