Dr. Amrita Ramaswami is a famous and highly skilled haematologist in India, renowned for her expertise in the field of hematologic oncology and bone marrow transplant.
Dr.Amrita Ramaswami earned her MBBS in 2007 from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), one of India's top 10 medical institutes. She subsequently went on to do her postgraduate studies in General Medicine at Madurai Medical College in Madurai.
Her interest in Haematology arose after attending a conference at CMC, Vellore, which has one of the top Haematology departments in the country. In February 2013, she joined CMC Vellore as a senior Registrar in the Department of Haematology after completing her postgraduate studies in General Medicine in 2009 in order to pursue her dream of becoming a haematologist.
She was accepted into the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences' DM programme in Clinical Haematology in June 2013 and successfully finished the course in June 2016.
She joined Artemis in May 2021 as a Consultant and Unit Head in Haemato-Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation, following five years as a post-doctoral fellow at Medanta–The Medicity, one of the leading private healthcare institutions in the Delhi-NCR region. She brings a rich and diverse background in haematology and stem cell transplantation, shaped by her training and experience at both AIIMS and Medanta–The Medicity.
She has expertise in diagnosing and treating both benign and malignant haematological conditions, including aplastic anaemia, thalassemia, acute leukaemia, lymphomas, and multiple myeloma. She is also highly knowledgeable in the diagnosis and management of bleeding disorders.
Her technical knowledge and abilities include bone marrow aspirations/biopsies, lumbar punctures with intrathecal chemotherapy, PICC line insertion, and Hickman catheter insertion.
